Lightweight corundum castable is a refractory castable made of alumina as the main raw material. It is mainly used as the lining material of various kilns such as carbon black reactors, high-temperature gasification furnaces, boilers, blast furnace hot blast furnaces, heating furnaces, ceramic kilns, etc. It is a high-grade refractory material commonly used in high-temperature industries. Corundum hollow ball castable is a type of corundum castable. The operating temperature can reach 1600℃-1800℃. It is characterized by high load softening temperature and high strength. It can be used in a strong reducing atmosphere. The thermal conductivity is lower than that of heavy corundum castable and the thermal insulation performance is good.



Lightweight corundum castables have advantages such as high use temperature, but compared with other aluminum-silicon refractory insulation castables, lightweight corundum castables still have disadvantages such as high density (1.75t/m3) and high thermal conductivity (0.75w/m.k). Therefore, research on lighter and more insulating corundum hollow ball castables has become the direction of work.









 







 



The binders used for lightweight corundum castables mainly include CA-70 or CA-80 cement, binding clay, aluminum phosphate and aluminum sulfate, etc. Industrial alumina powder or corundum powder and other materials are used as refractory powders, and the fineness is less than 0.09mm, accounting for more than 90%; the maximum particle size of the hollow ball is 5mm, and natural grading or graded grading is adopted. In addition, admixtures or additives should be added to improve performance.



Lightweight corundum castables have been used in kilns in metallurgy, petrochemicals, carbon black and other sectors, meeting the needs of the development of new processes and technologies and achieving significant social and economic benefits.
