Rare earth polishing powder refers to a mixed light rare earth oxide powder with cerium oxide as the main component used to improve the surface finish of products or parts. It is widely used in industrial product polishing because of its excellent chemical and physical properties.



Rare earth polishing powder can be made from bastnaesite concentrate (containing REO≥70%) or soluble rare earth salts (containing CeO2/REO=45%~50% rare earth chloride or cerium-rich rare earth compound containing more than 80% CeO2) as raw materials through chemical treatment, burning, crushing, screening and other processes. CeO2 polishing powder is widely used in the polishing of cameras, camera lenses, TV picture tubes, spectacle lenses, etc.



 



The specifications and models of rare earth polishing powder are not the same. Generally, they can be divided into three types: low cerium, rich cerium, and high cerium according to the content of cerium oxide. The polishing ability of rare earth polishing powder is closely related to the content of cerium oxide. Rare earth polishing powders with high content of cerium oxide usually have a strong polishing ability, but their prices are relatively more expensive.



 



Cerium oxide rare earth polishing powder has the advantages of high polishing finish, fast speed, and long service life compared to other abrasive materials such as Fe2O3 and Al2O3. It only takes about one minute to polish optical glass lenses with cerium oxide rare earth polishing powder, which is more than 30 times more efficient than ordinary polishing powders that cost more than 30 minutes in the past.



 



Regarding the factors affecting the performance of rare earth polishing powder, in general, in addition to the content of rare earth elements in the powder, the particle size and particle size distribution of rare earth polishing powder also have an important impact on the performance of polishing powder. Polishing powder with larger particles has higher grinding efficiency, while polishing powder with smaller particles can better process high-quality surface products. Therefore, there are certain differences in the requirements for the particle size of polishing powder for different types of glass. For example, the surface smoothness of flat glass and color TV glass shells is not high, and the required polishing powder particles can be larger, while the polishing powder required for optical glass polishing requires a particle size distribution of sub micron level. If polyurethane is used for high-speed polishing, higher requirements are placed on particle size and suspension, requiring fineness and uniformity. We all know that fine particle size and good suspension often result in reduced cutting force. Therefore, the best performance rare earth polishing powder must seek the optimal matching combination between particle size, cutting force, and suspension, which requires production processes to achieve.

DL-XP (red font)is mainly aimed at equipment such as beveled edge machines, irregular edge machines, straight edge machines, etc. It can polish household glass, artistic glass, microcrystalline glass, etc. It has the characteristics of strong cutting force, high polishing efficiency, strong durability, and good suspension.



DL-XP (blue font)is widely used for cleaning silver plated glass, has the characteristics of high smoothness and easy rinsing. Generally, silver plated glass is cleaned with water first, then with polishing powder, and finally with water again to achieve a perfect cleaning effect.



XP-CF can be used for removing scratches and repairing glass surfaces, such as mobile phone cover glass (non touch screen), as well as for polishing glass beveled edges and cleaning automotive glass to remove oil film. It has the characteristics of strong cutting force and fast polishing speed.
